Introduction

Formally the A1 qualification, this qualification is intended for those who assess both occupational competence in the work environment and vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in environments other than the workplace (for example a workshop, classroom or other training environment).

Entry requirements

This qualification is open to all (learners must be 19 years old or over) and have occupational and technical competence in the areas that they wish to assess.

Qualification Units:

  1. Assess occupational competence in the work environment
  2. Assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding
  3. Understanding the principles and practices of assessment

Course & Assessment:

This qualification will consist of 1 day course, followed by ongoing assessment of the following:

  • Coursework
  • Portfolio of Evidence
  • Practical Demonstration / Assignment
  • Worksheet or professional discussion

NB: Qualification registration will last a maximum of 12 months from the date of the course, you must complete the qualification within this time-frame.

Introduction

This qualification replaces the Level 3 Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (QCF) 600/2397/1

Achieving the qualification will provide sufficient evidence that an individual has acquired the necessary skills and knowledge to enable them to teach beyond an initial year in the FE sector.

Who Would Benefit

  • Learners aged 19 +
  • Those considering a career in education and training
  • Those who already have a role within education and training, who do not already hold an equivalent/ higher teaching qualification
  • Those who are already working as an assessor who wish to achieve a qualification that provides an introduction to teaching

Qualification Units:

  1. Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
  2. Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training
  3. Understanding assessment in education and training

Course & Assessment:

This qualification will consist of 2 day course, followed by ongoing assessment of the following:

  • Worksheet
  • Course work / portfolio of evidence consisting of
  • Lesson Plan
  • Observation
  • Evaluation
  • Micro teaching log
  • Practical observation

NB: Qualification registration will last a maximum of 12 months from the date of the course, you must complete the qualification within this time-frame.

Introduction

This development programme will enable managers to understand and interpret organisational strategy, demonstrate people management based on core values and provides direction for the team, giving them the ability to deliver required goals.

Who would benefit

This qualification is aimed at individuals who want to work in management or wishes to gain a recognised qualification in the Active Leisure Sector.

Introduction

This Managing Conflict course is aimed at staff who deal with the public and would like to improve their ability in dealing with conflict by recognising different aspects of conflict that they may encounter and to understand different methods of dealing with such conflicts

Who would benefit from the course?

Staff who work with the public either face to face or on the telephone who wish to broaden their skills in diffusing conflict and improve their ability to communicate effectively.

Candidates will cover:

  • What is conflict
  • What triggers anger
  • How to recognise when people are angry
  • Why customers complain
  • Customer wants and expectations
  • How we communicate
  • How our attitudes affect customers perceptions
  • Resolution techniques
  • Models of communication
  • The recovery process
  • Fight or flight
  • The law relating to the use of force

Format:

1 day classroom based theory course which will involve group discussion and interaction and a theory assessment.

Introduction

If your risk assessment indicates that first aid training covering emergency protocols only, is sufficient for your workplace, this one-day course will help you meet your regulatory requirements.

Who should attend?

This course is designed for people who want to receive training in emergency first aid and is especially suited for nominated first aiders in smaller, low risk working environments.

Learners will cover:

  • Understand the role of the first aider including reference to the use of available equipment and the need for recording incidents and actions
  • Understand the importance of basic hygiene in first-aid procedures
  • Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious and/or in seizure
  • Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded or bleeding and/or in shock
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking
  • Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries
  • Recognise the presence of major illness and apply general first aid principles in its management

Introduction

The 3 day First aid at Work training course provides the comprehensive set of practical skills needed by first aiders in most workplaces to become a confident first aider at work. Giving both the ability and knowledge to deal with first aid emergencies. It meets the standards required to help comply with Health and Safety (First aid) regulations.

Who should attend?

This course is designed for people who want to receive our most thorough first aid training.

Learners will cover:

  • Understand the role of the first aider including reference to the use of available equipment and the need for recording incidents and actions
  • Understand the importance of basic hygiene in first-aid procedures
  • Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious and/or in seizure
  • Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded or bleeding and/or in shock
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking
  • Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries

In addition candidates should be able to demonstrate the correct first aid management of:

  • Soft tissue, chest, burn and scald injuries
  • Injuries to bones including suspected spinal injuries
  • Eye injuries including how to irrigate an eye
  • Sudden poisoning and anaphylactic shock

Introduction

The Team Leading qualification is ideal for people who are responsible for small groups of staff within a department or section, either as Team Leaders, Coordinators, or Supervisors. You will not only strengthen the skills you currently have but complete any skill gaps you may have.

Who would benefit

People new into a supervisory role or those wishing to progress into a supervisory role within the workplace

Candidates will cover:
